Hello I'm looking to get into tieing my own jigs. Needing some help getting started in the material. I'm going to buy the heads already made up. So everything in between the heads to catching the fish. I'm tired of buying jigs that are not to my standards. Heck I may be worse than the ones I buy but I still wanna try. So an uh information I can get would be great. I prefer yellow, char, white, gray colors.

If you're buying heads already made, then you won't have to get molds and a melting pot. You will need an alcohol burner and powder paint to paint the heads. You can buy stick-on eyes at Boggs (online) or paint eyes with Testors enamel (use small end of drill bits, white/black), or leave eyes off. Then, you need a vise to hold the jig (you can spend whatever $ you want on a vise), thread, a bobbin, some body material (chennile), and feathers for tail material, maybe some flash, possibly a whip finisher, and thread finish (glue).. Doesn't take long to get a bunch of stock. Most of this can be bought through Crazy Angler, and Barlows carries the stuff as well. Get on the jig forum and you can learn as much as you want. YouTube has a some great videos for the process.

Barlows tackle is where you need to go/ look for your materials... If you have a fly shop, bass pro, or cabelas near they will work also!

Go up to the "Jig Makers" section at the top of this forum and start reading. Some of the commercial jig makers also sell supplies, Skip sells Peak Vises and Tim White sells all of the tying supplies you will need.
But let me warn you, it is addicting.

Just starting out. I bought my first vice about 20 yr ago. I bought a Peak vice from skip about 3 yrs ago. I am trying to say is to start a $15 to $ 25 vice is fine. Tying jigs will make you a tackle HO. LOL good luck it is fun and addictive, but nothing like making a jig and catching a fish with it.
