Hi all. I am normally a barge and bank crappie fisherman thru the winter. I am wanting to fish bass for a change to see what kind of fun I can have with a hawg. Boat is in need of batteries because of a crappy on-board charger going out around Thanksgiving and toasting them. And with Christmas near I had to get the kiddies their stuff first so... I am seeking one or two baits that will catch their attention or better than that go out with someone who does this on a regular basis who knows what they are doing. I am not a tournament fisherman by any means but I do know how to hold a rod. FYI on my location I live in Allen. Please and thanks and have a Happy NY!

Lipless cranks are pretty good. Some people have good luck on spinner baits to. Any moving bait will be good you want that reaction strike.

Rattle traps and jerk baits until your arms fall off.

Thx for the repiles. I just had this sudden need to go out and see what you bass fishermen are talking about with the sharelunker craze. Again, I do bass fish, just not in wintertime. I see your point Bowhunter. That was definitely! not the right choice of words!

Jigs, jigs, and well jigs.

I look for steep, deep rocky banks. Also points and creek channels. If it is warm weather, I fish the creek channels all the way to the very back. Often times the best fish are in the back. Focus on channel swing banks and slow down.

Lastly, the later in the day it is, usually the better the bite. The water is warmest at the end of the day. Don't expect a lot of bites. Usually 5-8 bites a day is pretty good this time of year.

Good luck.

Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!
