Hey, I know I saw a thread a little while back about the current trout stocking. I was looking, and saw a couple ponds in my area will be stocked friday. Thought, great time to take the baby for her first trip. Any idea what time the stocking usually occurs? I would hate to be there before. Also then your favorite rig, or bait thought i could find locally or at a bass pro. Thanks a lot!
Happy fishing!

Fish like you were fishing for bluegill or bream. The smallest hook you can find, small pole, thin line, about 6 lb test. For bait use flies for artificial or bottled trout bait. I use corn with just a hint of garlic powder sprinkled for odor. You will do fine

Like the people above said. Light gear is the way to go. I would also reccommend spoons in either silver or gold. these also have to be tiny. a little larger than the first section of your pinkey finger. these are great for anyone starting out as a lot of times on a steady to slightly fast retrieve the trout bite and hook themselves.
side note: havent tried it yet, but I bet the fish food pellets at petco would work awesome for these trout
Can one become a master at fishing? Pshh... yes...

Berkley power bait. I use the rainbow colored trout bait. Don't fish the day they stock. Go the next day. Trout are in shock at their new enviroment and they won't bite well if at all. If you want to catch them with a lure find a lure called the "super-duper". Odd shaped lure that trout like for sure.

I have found those trout are aggressive the moment they hit the water, use small spinners like rooster tails, or for bait use corn, cheese, or Berkley. Take a kid and let them have a blast...once a child catches a fish using artificial lures they are hooked forever!!!

First year for me trout fishing in local ponds. First trip did well on a small chrome kastmaster.......but only after everyone else left. Second trip tried same thing and got a bite or two, but no fish. Watched another guy limit out in an hour using salmon eggs. Third trip I take salmon eggs and not even a bite. Watched a guy do really well with small marsh mellows. Most all seemed to use slip weights.

When the fishing gets hard on those stockers, try a 4inch power worm texas rigged, just like you were bass fishing.
You might be suprised.

Thank you for all for the valuable tips. Do the trout spread all around the pond after released or do they just hang around in the same general area?
