Got some time off coming up right around New Year..
Wanted to hit both lakes across 2 or 3 days.
Last time I was on Monti they were still crankin power but hear its a different story these days... I hit Welsh last year and did OK..
Knowing that weather this time of year could have a big say in my plans...just curious if anyone has any reports that they could/would share...?
Lake temps? Has the cold weather changed how many stacks each lake is running? Curious about what sorta success and generally with what, folks are having on both...
Thanks in advance !

I hit Monticello a half dozen times in October and November, have not been back since thanksgiving weekend. The bite got steadily tougher as the water cooled, although some the bites I had on my last trip, felt like buck bass moving a bait off a bed. The water level was higher than in past years, so the fish have really been scattered in the areas I typically fish. Some friends have had good days fishing the intake area, for numbers mostly, but a few fish up to 5 pounds were caught there.
If you find any 60+ degree water around the discharge or intake, look for beds.

Bill went to Monticello last week to shoot for Honey Hole and without giving too much away he did very well. Show will air Jan 5th on Fox Southwest at 6:30.

Was at Welsh yesterday. One stack running. Water temp at discharge 84. Mid-lake (away from the discharge)74. Down lake 65. I did not go up lake assume water temps would be in the mid-60's.
We caught 24 all on soft plastics (Flukes, Rattlesnakes and Senko's). Nothing big only one around 3 but not too many real dinks.
Lake is up maybe a foot or two. Lots of stuff now underwater.
Going to go to Monticello after Christmas. Their only running one stack there. I have a place on Sandlin and can see one stack blowing.
