Stick baits (like Senkos) and soft jerk baits (like the Zoom Super Fluke) are probably used by most fishermen in the spring and fall. I'm wondering if some of you use them in the cold months of winter? If so, how to you normally rig them and fish with them?

I use soft jerks with a spinning real and c-rig and try to 7ft to 15ft and try but other then that you might find some fish

I never know when it will be my last time to fish and fishing is what I live for!

When I use them it is weightless in very heavy cover. When I do use a weight, it is just a tiny pinch weight at the nose of the bait. The purpose is to make it spiral down in or beside the cover acting like a dying bait fish.

For the deeper Bass I go with a short, light C-rig drifting off or around points going with the wind and using the trolling motor to control the drift. I usually use this method when I have found fish hanging on the points then stop and fish for them with the senko and fluke.

This time of year in heavy cover and around the dormant grass pods I seem to catch bigger Bass on the Square Bill Crank Bait. One of my best stringers was also on the Little N Norman in Chrome with a black back. On a good warm day early in the morning they are up shallow chasing bait. This is also a killer bait with it overcast, in very calm waters and with a little fog going on. The higher the water level the better; of course they love that shoreline weed line and will relate to that cover on points. High water is something we don't see to often in Texas; so seek out the constant level lakes if you can.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.
