Okay here's my story I grew up camping in a tent with nothing but the tent and blanket and pillow. But in Texas we all know that during the summer time it can be really hot. Well, I got married and tried to get the wife outdoors Well she said not with out an AC So I looked at some people duck taping an AC to their tent that's cool but not my style. I wanted something I didn't have to waste tape and wanted it to look professional. So I went out to a place and they wanted $300 to put a zipper on the tent, I said the hell with that. So I went on line and found a place called the acboot. On a 90 degree day with high humidity it got down to 64 degrees in my tent. I had a 5050 BTU AC. The wife was happy and made me happy. I messaged the owner that I had a hard time finding his product and made a video of it and added it to youtube. He sent us somethings to say thanks. We enjoy camping so much we now own a travel trailer. But just wanted to pass the info on for someone that may want to duck an AC in to their tent for the family. I don't work for them, make sure you go by their directions for install. http://www.acboot.com

my hubby saw this and had to show me! brought back some memories. at one point we were actually living in a tent...yep, that was our home. every week we ventured to a new lake or new area. we too needed an a/c. our setup was a bit different - we had one of those coleman instant pop up tents with HUGE screened windows - propped the ac unit against the screen and used visqueen around it. worked great and kept the inside a cool 60. we sure miss camping, but when the kiddo's get a bit older, we will be back at it! thanks for sharing

This set up worked for us several years, just not as "clean" looking as yours campandfish. In the cooler months it closed and heated up just fine. We have a camper now but this worked when we didn't. Lakelass, You and Dam sounds like y'all have been through some hard times and are coming out the other end better for it. Folks like y'all do a lot of the truly good things in this world I have found.

My buddy and I built this tiny house to take to music festivals. Has 5000btu a/c unit and solar panel that charges a battery bank for a/c and lights. It breaks down and fits in a cargo van. camping in style!

we put our ac outside the door with a fan in front of it to push the cold air into the tent, it will get the tent pretty cold. I like the product I will have to show it to the wife, if I can make her cold that means more camping for me
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst

My son in law made a plenum to fit the window unit with some sort of fiber board and attached an ac start collar and then sealed it some sort of compound. Then we attached an 8" flex duct and ran the hose through the small access door on the tent. It works great.

Why go through all the trouble of creating a mount, stand and boot for a window unit and not just wheel a portable unit in the tent and push it over in the corner out of the way. We have one on each floor of our beach house for the heat of the summer when three unit our mini-split ac system has trouble keeping up with the heat and humidity. I'll vouch that they work very well.

We tried one in the tent and it didn't work well for me-the vent was cumbersome and had to be vented through the door-we returned it and was quite pleased with the window unit-got a camper now though-
