Losing the boat may be a bit of a stretch, but the wind did play a cruel joke on me. With the winter draw down, all of the docks are high and dry, so we have to beach our boats at the ramp. I was cold, and ready to get in the truck, so I didn't pull up quite far enough. Luckily my Yamapole (aka my motor) found some nice ground to get stuck in, so all that happened was the nose swung around just a bit. Still, it made for a cold but funny lesson...

I shouldn't tell this but I went brain dead one day by myself. I unstrapped the boat and jumped in the truck and backed in the lake, normally I will back in just far enough so it won't float off, but for some reason I just slammed that baby in there full speed, it slid off like it was on a mission and was floating away, I have never seen a boat float that fast. It was in the middle of the week and there was only one other truck in the parking lot. It was winter and cold and the water is deep, so swimming to it was out of the question. I went and parked the truck and waited for someone to show up. About 5 minutes later a guy pulls up, I tell him I need a ride to my boat, cause somehow my hook came off when I backed it in.

I have never unhooked the strap since.

It was pretty funny as soon as I got back in the truck. When I showed my wife, she has been laughing all week about it. I'm just glad it wasn't any colder!

I've had two float away on me. One had to swim a long ways to get to in my younger years.

If Power Poles are good for nothing else, they do keep a boat on the bank.

Yep that's why I make sure I use my yamapole and minnanchor up front...nice video too

I always leave the safety chain on when I'm by myself. But one thing I have done is be with someone else and as they try to float me off, and they always try to do it fast, everything comes to a screeching halt when chain is left on....dayyum I hate that, and so does the front eyelet. It's a wonder I havent seen that thing ripped out of the boat....
