Grass makes Texas lakes good, with falcon being the exception. Period. I will throw this out there though. I grew up fishing cold water impoundments in north Georgia that were trout stocked. It was nothing to see 8+lb fish near the hatchery all year long. As deep as those lakes are they could definitely hold a world record by now. People fish those lakes but not near what Texas lakes get pressure wise. There are huge bass swimming in lakes that never see a lure or boat or even know we exist. Its possible that there are a lot of world records in Texas but nobody fishes where they are.

Where in Texas could there be "lots" of world records? Pretty sure every lake in Texas gets pressure. California shows us what happens when a bass has little or no predators plus no interbreeding of northern strain. Basically have a perfect environment where a pure Florida can reach its full potential.

Anything is possible especially in tx. I know a couple of years ago at lake austin a 16# plus fish was caught submitted to sharelunker. It was not a pure florida it was released back into the lake .Dunlap submitted a sharelunker that was not pure florida curious to see what those fish would go now? Tpwd did a shock survey on fork said there were four fished shocked that could break the current state record. Theres no such thing as perfect conditions for any lake in the world but like i said anything is possible. I feel like the state record will fall it will be fork that will probably have the best chance there is some good genetics in that lake.

Could be wrong...But I was under the impression that the true F-1 cross had the best potential to reach record status. Same with any breeding program.. The F-1 cross is the first offspring from each pool. They have what is called hybrid vigor.. In the case of bass it's the first off spring of a true Florida with a true Northern strain.

I didn't mean that there is one lake with lots of world records in it. But I bet there are, just say 2 in a few lakes here. I can believe that there are huge bass that stay out in a river channel all year and just eat. Even the guy that catches all those big cali fish believes once they get so big they don't spawn so there's no reason to go shallow. Let's just say toledo, rayburn, fork, falcon, amistead and there for sure could be more have 2 23-25lb fish in them. That's 10 world records in texas. That's a lot of world records and easily possible with as old as the lakes are and as long as floridas have been stocked.

If the record gets caught in Texas it will be out of a private lake under a controlled environment. I doubt the bass stocked in cali are anything other than pure floridas.

The world record caught in Georgia back in 1932 was caught in an Oxbow lake. No trout diet. More of a FREAK that had a Creek Chub diet. The 25 snagged in Cali died at 19 lbs after laying eggs. More exist like that one somewhere. Falcon has potential as does several lakes in Texas.
