Limited out again this morning in about an hour, with 5 trout 8.5" to 10". I haven't fished in the afternoon, but for me, they seem to be biting best from 10am to 11am. Again preferring the fluorescent orange nuggets or dough bait over the yellow. Last Thursday, on release day, the bite was aggressive. Today, it was very subtle. Using both #14 gold treble and #10 single baitholder. Tried some #16 gold trebles, but they really swallowed them deep. The larger hooks were not swallowed as deep, but was still only able to release one fish. Finally tied on a double drop shot and although I missed more, none were swallowed. Trial and error, reading this forum, learning to catch stocker trout. It's all good. Oh yeah, Zebco 202, 6lb mono, light rod. Works for me. Good luck...

Llela's been tough the 2 days I went. Only 1 trout. Got it on chartruse powerbait dough on #18 trebble hook 2 ft off the bottom. Tried super dupers, kastmasters, and roostertails as well. They must have swam down stream or something.

I'm new to the forum. I been fishing south lake pound in Denton and Mesquite city lake for three years and have one question. Maybe a dumb one. Why is it when these ponds are stocked with catfish in the summer they don't draw near the same amount of people as they do when stocked with trout? Don't get me wrong i enjoy trout fishing. It seems like the day of stocking and the days that follow it's cut throat fishing. Just thought I'll ask. Maybe someone has some insight. Something more on topic , I use the rig described in powerbait fishing rigs blog. I can't count how many guys I've told there fishing with to big hook or line.

I think its because trout are only available for a certain amount of time and catfish can be caught year round and personally I think trout also taste better.

Trout and Texas well Id never think it would happen. I spent 40+ years in Denver and have seen more trout that I ever care to. Now Cat-fishing, crappie and bass is what I want. I find it so funny how every one get in the mood to catch a Stocker trout. A native trout is much better to eat nice pink solid meat. But I think its cool that they stock them and every one gets out to fish for them. 6 pound line and a #8 hook good to go.

I'm a catfish man myself. The trout not as fun a fight , but pretty good on the grill. #10 salmon egg hook with salmon egg flavor powerbait works for me.

There is such a thing as cut throat trout just saying LOL http://wildlife.state.co.us/research/aquatic/CutthroatTrout/Pages/CutthroatTrout.aspxSomething I don't think Texas will have. Don't forget the brown trout or the lake trout very nice fish to catch. One thing for sure is that they have some nice colors to them. Don't forget that they like a fly to a wooly bugger has done well for me in the past with a fly rod or a clear bubble on a spinning rig.

Tried the drop shot hook setup today, worked better but the pole I had the old way worked just as well. They seemed less aggressive overall.
Another question, how many people do well on corn? I see a decent amount of people using it but only a small percentage actually do well. Of the 5 caught today, one had about three pieces of corn in him. Figured he stole them off someones hook. Have some corn in the back for catfish chum, has anyone ever tried that? I've heard of WD40 corn but I'm not up for polluting the water.

I've used corn for trout fishing. It depends on the day and the mood the trouts in. One day every cast w/ corn and as soon as you tighten up the line, they are already biting it. Other days, they prefer something else. I prefer inline spinners as I like to move around the lake or pond.

Trinity Park was a high muddy water mess this morning. I hope the trout hug the bottom and don't get washed downstream.
