There are Gators in just about every lake in North/East Texas.
They have kinda based their whole lives on not being seen...

So I wonder what the legalities are on using dogs for bait? Evidently the monster catfish prefers live bait.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

My 2 boys have spotted (gator) one about 5 ft long way in back of Copeland creek, it was about 12 yrs ago. I have heard all the tall tales of a 1000# cat in Pines, but never seen it ,or heard of anyone (reliable source) has seen it, that I could place faith in to the story. I will add from some of my experiences while fishing Pines for 45 yrs. We have been on the lake all hours of day and night. There have been time when I / we thought we ran upon the BIG one and have tries to pull it it in on our 500# test trot lines, with no success. It could have been the adult beverages we were sipping on that made us see things bigger that they are. We still look for Mr Biggie Cat and Gator every time we go out. If we ever see them Ya'll will be the 2nd to know.
Smile while you still have teeth.

Back when I was a kid in Boy Scouts, many years ago, one of the older guys got a job working for the corps of engineers as a diver in the midwest.
He used to tell stories of moving huge catfish out from around the bottom of those dams for some reason, he said some had to be moved by crane.
I always thought it was just another fish story though.

I would rather believe that it was a gator, they like dogs.
I lived in Central Florida, and around the Phosphate mines there were some bigguns, there were also a lot of 3 legged dogs around.

I always thought it was just another fish story though. I've heard that story many times before about almost every lake i know. I myself am a scuba diver and have dove some of the deepest lakes in the country. I've seeh some huge catfish. The size of a man. But never anything that would need a crane to move. A catfish the size of a man would only be 200-250 lbs. And we know there are some of those out there.

Go with the better story. This is fishing. It's a time honored tradition.

Back when the only VW you saw was the beetle, the divers at Elephant Butte Lake told about catfish as big as a VW.
Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.
