I try to go somewhere stocked by PK. Big ones.
TPWD like as in Cedar Hill State Park are 5 inches tops.

You would think so unless you had caught one of the 5-7 pound breeders released a few years back by the TRWD. They even mixed some big brown trout in that year. They were sly and it was hard to get them to take. Presentation had to be true and a 4 pound leader was really helpful.

Like so many things quality of the trout stocking has declined in recent years. Huge trout were once stocked in larger numbers. And the TPWD once stocked every pond available with thousands instead of dozens. A friend and I used to drive to all the local ponds and fish, with the goal of catching one hundred trout in the season.

But Rick and the other folks at TRWD still try to give us a good experience with big fish even though they have felt the budget pressure in recent years.

Any one know if they'll be stocking Waterloo pond in Denison this weekend since the derby has been postponed?

1600 trout on the 15th. Seems odd, didn't know they stocked on Sunday.

My first time fishing for the stocked rainbow trout this morning. Just happened to get there as they were hosing them in. Couldn't believe I was the only one there. They finished stocking about 9:45am and by 11:30am or so, I was on my way home with a limit of 10"-12" trout. They didn't seem to like the yellow dough bait but after switching to orange nuggets, it didn't take long to catch 5. With a 90% chance of rain tomorrow, looks like the weekend will be my next chance to try them again.

They stock on the previous Friday, but post the lake until Sunday so that they can have a special interest fish event on Saturday. It always struck me as unfair.

So did they stocked on Dec 18 or 19 ? I want take my kids fish with me tomorrow!

If you meant TRWD trout stocking, they did it on the 19th. I went this afternoon and caught 5. Two are 15" and the other three ~12". I used power bait, rainbow color.

Tomorrow will be cold and possibly raining.
