Well it got me ready for another trip so we got a 5 bedroom 3 bath rented for 4 nights in mid Dec. Last year we stayed the 26-29 and it was beautiful with the snow but was too busy getting ready that close to Christmas.

When do they stock in Dec?

Looks like the next stocking should be the week of Nov. 18th. Then 3 weeks after that looks like the week of Dec. 12. What has to be factored in as well is the hatchery in Broadwater Nebraska gets 37" of snowfall on average a year which can affect (delay) the stocking. They have a lot of secondary roads coming out of the hatchery. If the weather is nice there will be alot of anglers at BB the week of Dec 25th due to kids being out of school. If the weather is cold and nasty the holdover trout last longer between stockings. Speaking from experience and just presenting information. Wish you the best.

If they make it by the 16th then that would be great lol. Dad has only been once and that was without us. Last year he did not go because of the snow and cold. Since all the chemo and radiation a couple of years ago he still gets cold easiely and runs out of energy fast, so it would be nice if the spillway had some new fish that would hit anything.

Getting close. Have a Turkey smoked now I need to smoke a brisket. I hope they stock late this week and the stuff I ordered from Carey makes it. We will definitely try out zone 2 this time also.

With the crazy weather, they are generating almost non-stop. Check the gen schedule prior to hitting z2. Z3 might have some fish now, too.

Stockers should go in tomorrow. Decent weather after friday.....

With duck season closed for the weekend, I might head up there and fly fish.

I want to give it one more chance...

Hopefully the crowds stay at home!

Hey, Got the Neer Deers today along with some small eggs and a pack of something I cannot see and will not probably be able to tie on LOL.
A big thank you to Carey for getting my order out in this weather.

I need to get my butt in gear so everything will be organized and ready. Most of the time we are not up there on weekends and the crowds are generally not too bad. There has been several times when we were the only people at the spillway or cardiac hill. Cold hole and Evening hole generally has a few.

I am new to Fly fishing. I am certainly not asking for anyone to reveal any secret spots, but if someone could possibly steer me in the right direction about what flies might be most effective this time of year I would be most appreciative.

Will the stockers rise to flies or since they have been bottle fed since hatching would the old salmon egg and corn combination be the most effective?

Thanks.

Yes they will rise, but mostly little ones. Fish from the EH and upstream. I posted somewhere in this thread all the flies and months they r around. Click back till you find it.
