You probably won't get this one to bite this weekend.
She got stuck

6 lb 13 oz Rayburn Toad, on a samee this mourning before the front hit.

On a side note this fish was really slimy. The slime was thicker than usual and very visible.
Anybody know what's up with that?

Well the fish obviously have a thin slime coat to fight bacteria and infections but from what I've read, the thicker coat could be caused by some other stressor, possibly weather changes. When it gets deeper into winter maybe they develop that thicker coat to protect themselves. All just a guess but thought I would throw my thoughts into the think tank.

Caught her with in 10 ft of water. Fish were schooling. I've heard that fish get more slimy when they are schooled up, but this girl was skinny for her body size, sick I guess.

Good fish. During the Berkley tournament on Fork I caught a fish that had a crazy thick slime coat. It was in thick grass and the fish didnt look too healthy. Ever since then ive been wondering the same thing about the slime coat.

Very dark colored Bass. She has been staying in the darkest place she could find. My guess is the cover of thick hydrilla.
The grass will contribute to that slime coating during the winter months. I have caught them in the Winter and they be twice as slimy and really have a foul odor of the dying Winter grass.

Yep. Sammy, they were busting shad on the surface before the front hit.
Most of my other fish came on a swim bait.
Couldn't buy. Bite on a trap.
