I want to start drift fishing for catfish On Ray Hubbard.I went out today to fish a little and scout out a place to drift. I went around robertson park, from the rockwall side to the Garland side. The bottom seems free of trees and fairly flat. The depths run from 14ft to 30 ft.Has anyone ever drifted this area? I would also like other spots if you know of any that work. Im new to this, so any info would help. Thanks

There're a lot of snags when you get to the deep end.

Using your sonar determine the tops of the trees. use a bobber with a bobber stop to keep your bait just above the tree tops. refer to the other post about cats rising, you will see they will come up to it.

thanks guys, I also looked at the area between I30 and miller. At the 30 side its fairly smooth but only 15 ft or so deep. I saw some humps but no trees, is this too shallow for winter? We jug line there in spring and catch nice channels and a few 15lb or so blues. I have never drifted there in winter. Thanks again

Try the west side between the red barn cove point and the power plant jetty. I've caught some nice blues there when I couldn't get on Lavon. There is an east west running road bed in that area that you want to avoid. Navionics shows it. I have found a few other scattered snags in that area, but that road bed will get you nearly every time.

Thanks to the others who offered there knowledge. I really thank you. I have been suckin all summer. I bought a fishing boat and was getting ready to have it exorsized against fish demons. I am a decent fisherman, or so I thought, but this summer humbled me a lot! thanks again

Text me if you want to book a trip this weekend. I could show you how I fish Hubbard and you just might stick a big one in the process.
