The one reoccurring theme I had expected seems to be holding true here, it seems the vast majority of guys who spend so much time and effort in fishing started at a very young age. I guess that says a lot about the addictive nature of this sport we have all become to know and enjoy.

Quote from Henry David Thoreau:
"Some men fish all of their lives without knowing it is really not the fish they are after."

I'm 57, I've been bass fishing for a long time, but I've stoped and started back. I had a great uncle that had several stock tanks on his ranch in Bing Okla, had some good fish. I started fishing when I was old enough to tag along. About 4 years old I would guess. At 6 I had a metal tackle box and a Zebco 202. My other Uncle had a Ranch in Johnson County in Southern Oklahoma with Blue River running through one corner of it, fished it every chance I got through High School. I didnt have much as a kid growing up, but I had good places to fish, quail hunt so it wasnt to bad looking back.

I let Houston Traffic, hunting and offshore fishing get in the way once between 1995 and 2008 and only bass fished a few times in those years. All the tournaments I fished between 1981 and the mid nities burned me out to tournament fihsing but I never lost the want for bass fishing. I've been reeling in Blue Marlin and told myself, this is fun, but nothing like setting the hook on a big fish in the brush on Choke or Falcon.

When the drug wars ruined my deer hunting in Mexico, I started back bass fishing in 2008 as I guess you could say as a serious recreational bass fisherman, I don't tournament fish anymore, but may start back someday.

I like to fish thats a fact.

Thanks, Billy

Me and a few buddies formed the first highschool bass club at Garland High back in 1975. We fished local lakes every month against each other. Most of us fished out of belly boats. Our buds with boats would drop us off in a cove and come back to check on us every couple of hours. Been chased by water moccasins at Tawakoni a few times. Lol.

Stayed hard after it ever since. Backed off a little bit last year to get married but its still in my blood as bad as ever. So I guess it's been 38 years which is pretty amazing since I'm only 45.... wink

I am 55 and to hear my mother tell it. I caught my first bass in a stock tank outside of Troup when my dad coached there. When I was about 2-3. She said, I was hooked for life. She credits it to her. Both my parents loved to fish. So, the bug really hit me. So, about 52-53 years now.

63 years. Dad never fished or did anything except work. Cousin Dale and I went every chance we had.

Got hurt once when the fishing rod got stuck in the bicycle spokes and it flipped me pretty good. Anyone remember what it was like to get cinders in your knees?

I'm not that old, but feel like I learn something every time I go out on the water. Fishing never gets old!

My dad was a hardcore bass fisherman, so I literally have bass fished all my life, I don't know really how old I was when I caught my first bass on my own but I'm guessing 2.5-3? Years old.

There are pictures at my moms house of me in the boat with them when I'm a newborn basically and mom says I took my first steps on my dads bass boat.

Pretty sure my fist tournament we placed in together as a team was 1980, could be off a year ish on that though.

After highschool college and woman didn't leave much time for fishing but I fished some here and there but took a major break for tourney fishing from 1995 or 6 up to about 3 years ago got back into fishing tournaments again.

I truely have forgotten more about bass fishing than I know today, but I'm working to get it all back.
