Anyone ever used the super small cranks marketed for crappie fishing? If so, are they good? Tips appreciated...

I have several of the strike king crappie cranks and I have had any luck on them yet myself. As the creek fill up with crappie I will continue trying them.
A bad day of Fishin,is better then a good day at work

I've used the real small ones and have seen no difference between them and the regular ones.

I read an article in Bassmasters Magazine that was written by Rick Clunn about these specific lures. He referred to them as bass limit getter lures. They were Norman Crappie Crankbaits. He would change the hooks to a bigger size. A number 6 up front and a number 4 in the back. I've caught big bass on these little lures, but never a crappie!

I've been skeptical about them for years...I think the time has come to change my opinion on them! I am down the street from Barlows, gonna stop in there and pick some up

2013 Crappie Masters at Grenada was won pulling cranks. The top two teams were pulling cranks using planer boards like they use for walleye fishing. Both teams were from up north. The regulars from the area struggled to catch fish and a lot of good teams from that area couldn't catch 7 fish in two days. Might be time to broaden our view of crank baits for crappie. Crappie Now magazine has some good articles on using cranks. Look back in back issues.

No, but I caught a ton of crappie this year on Bandit 100's and 200's in blue back Chartreuse. Good for trolling through schools when you can mark them on structure that is not timber. Add a couple of jigs in front and you'll get some doubles.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

I used to troll with them a lot back on a small lake in GA in the spring time. Very effective when done right and caught some pigs doing it. It's also lots of fun to me.

I never caught 1 on a crank, I have caught several on rooster tails. I have had some really big green sunfish hit my crank bait before that surprised me since it wouldn't even fit in their mouth.

I have Caught Many on Crank Baits Many Years ago. BUT I wasn't Fishing for Crappie. I have been Successful throwing Spinner baits at Targets and letting them Fall to depth of Suspended fish with slow retrieve. Lure will fall about 1 ft. per. sec. once it has Hit the Surface. GOOD LUCK !!!
