Couldn't have said it any better! Some folks get beat before they even leave the ramp!

I agree. I love that conditions can be bad and you have to factor that in.

Sure hope you don't place all your money on Rayburn winds forcast rule of thumb add 10 mph. sometimes 3 means 30 They won't cancel it. Winds not going to be that bad. No lightning. May have a fog delay Sunday, though. Let's fish! It seems Debby Downer has shown up to spread her Holiday cheer! Good Luck to all of those that are fishing and all the wannabe's mind ya bizzness!

I was at the Rayburn Everstart a couple years back. It was COLD. If you plan on using the Pavilion ramp, make sure you are one of the first to put in. I was. Don't crank the motor and pull it on the bank. It will suck water into the lines and freeze quickly. Several guys had blow torches to unfreeze their motors. Several boats were frozen to the trailer. I almost watched several boats loose control backing down the ramp after freezing over.....almost watched a couple wrecks...boats jumping over the dividing rocks on the ramp....brakes locking up. Several guys rode over from the state park and took some boat spray to the face. They couldn't undo their helmet due the boat spray freezing on impact. TD saw that and canceled that day. Imagine riding 30 mins spearing a wave only to freeze within seconds...no matter how tough you are..or how much of a "Pro" you are...you will freeze to death before making the 30 min ride back. God doesn't care how much of a PRO you are...or claim to be! Like I said, be at the ramp first. I had my boat pulled up beside the ramp and after watching the nightmare for 30 mins and seeing the stresses everyone was facing, I trolled away. I couldn't watch anymore...made me nervous watching a 60K boat come sliding down the ramp.

Make sure you lifejacket label is readable....make sure to put your name on it, so we know who you are....in case something bad happens.

Couldn't have said it any better! Some folks get beat before they even leave the ramp! Not me. You can't get beat in your warm recliner which is where I'll be. Best of luck to the PTT guys on Rayburn and be safe!

One suggestion, everyone bring 1 bag of kitty liter and 1 box of course salt and dumb it on the ramp.
No icing issue will follow!

I thought they sent us out that day . I hit a sandbar and wound up in the water. we were so cold we got back in the lake to warm up I was at the Rayburn Everstart a couple years back. It was COLD. Am I missing something.... its a light freeze? like 32 degrees. Water is well above freezing and will keeps ramps nice and warm. Water in the engine will not freeze that fast in the forecasted temps, boats are not in danger of freezing to the trailers. Man last 19 degree @ launch tournament I was in no one had these issues. Of course be careful and operate within your limitations.

Snickers, they called the first day when C.Bird came in with the frozen helmet stuck on. We went out the second day and it was 17 degrees...but no wind. Ron, canceled the first day due to the wind....it was well below freezing that morning. Seems we had a few Everstarts on Rayburn this happened. They all kinda run together in my little ol pea head. Snickers, I forgot you hit that sandbar....skeery #$#@!!! You got lucky!!

North Texas is getting the hard freeze....not sure what will happen down there at Rayburn.
Sometimes it's colder there than it is here in Longview.
Just depends on the cloud cover tonight!! If it lifts...temps will drop fast!
