 TRWD schedules trout stocking

The Tarrant Regional Water District has scheduled its trout stocking in Trinity Park in Fort Worth for December 18 at 9:00 AM.
TRWD usually releases trout in both Trinity Park and River Park. Only Trinity Park is shown this year. I will update as soon as I get the information. One of my contacts tells me Crystal Lake increased its prices this year. That may have caused a budget crunch. Crystal Lake furnishes the trout to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Tarrant Regional Water District and other public and private stockings in Texas.

Is that Dec. 18th or 19th? I goggled it and seems 19th. and it does not say how many will be stocked.

The FB says Dec. 9th (Trinity Park) and Jan 16th (River Park). I think it is a typo, should be Dec. 19th and Jan. 16th. http://www.trwd.com/Events?Date=1/2/2014 This is TRWD, not the regular stocking by TPWD. Trout size by TRWD is larger.

my plan is to use a 4# line and a ultralight rod to hook a 20" trout. Think that is doable? I will have the drag set at 2 lb.

No such thing as a 20" trout around here +1 All trout will be 8-10" Not so! Trout stocked by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are purchased from Crystal Lake in the average 8-10 inch size. Some are usually much smaller. Now here is the good news. Trout stocked by Tarrant Regional Water District are purchased direct from Crystal Lake, and traditionly include a few lunkers . Last year one Crystal Lake stocking in another local pond had a six pounder.As to schedule, TRWD has revised its calendar to the following: December 19th. Crystal Lake stocking at Trinity Park. January 2nd. TPWD stocking at both Trinity and River Parks. January 16th. Crystal Lake stocking at River Park. So if you want a chance at a 20 inch trout mark your calendar for December 19 and January 16.

Wonder how the drift below PK is doing. I was in line with about ten other fly fishermen drifting a home made BH Prince Nymph and got a big surprise in the form of a wild Brazos Smallmouth . Only one I've ever caught, glad it was on the fly, multiple jumps and runs and finally into the net. Memorable.

Caught last year at a TRWD stocking. 20 inches, 3.5lbs weighed at HEB
