Any suggestions. Bait is not common with this weather lately and i have never used artificial bait. I went and picked up some artificial shrimps, but was wondering any suggestions on some plastics for reds and flounder?? i typically fish at bay area part or the texas city dikes.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Really can't beat Gulp shrimp on a 1/8oz jig head. We buy it by the case sometimes. I use the 3" and the 4". Also use the swimming mullet on a gold spoon.

If your targeting flounder unless you know the depth a popping cork won't work. Plus one on the gulp but if your looking for something different. Try the speck rigs with the plastic tail they run about $2. Pink and yellow or pink and orange any combo with pink in it. Next try vuduu shrimp I caught 5 in 10minutes there was no waiting to set the hook they inhaled them.

I like the original sand eel, big flounder will take the rod away getting after them. And a red won't turn it down either.
If the water is muddy, throw something with a paddle tail that has a lot of vibration, makes a big difference.

Where YOU live, they are by far my #1 choice. Go find the color baffin magic (pink) the next time you head to three islands.
Rig them on a 1/8 oz oldham screw lock head, make sure they are straight as a pencil, when you get the side to side dart action going, it's the golden key. Fishing them on a slack line will greatly improve the action. When you can get them darting two feet sideways, you got it going on.

I hear ya! I'll Find a pack of those somewhere... Places down here are limited on colors and types. Made a trip to roys tackle in Courpus and blew my mind... By far the best tackle shop.

Norton is horrible about changing color shades, if you ever see the old really light tan pumpkin/chart colors, grab every single one you can find. New pumpkin is too dark. I've switched to the tequila/chart it's closer to the old pumpkin.
The Baffin magic color is about ten different shades, look for the orangy pink, not the pure hot pink if possible.
The jighead is critical on the action, you'll really improve your catch using the oldham's screw lock head, that eel is so tough they have to literally shred it off the screw lock, more fishing less fussing. And it has to be rigged straight, if it's cork screwing through the water, take it off and re-rig it's not going to catch much like that.
They sell them online too, if you can't find any local.
