Went to Amon Carter on Saturday 11-30-13. Pulled up to the boat ramp on the new side and the ramp is totally out of the water. I noticed that the old bait shop accross the road had re-opened so I went accross the street to meet the new owner and figure out how to get to the old side. He told to go one 1/4 of a mile up the road and take a left. That is an old road that use to go thru the bottom land of the new side of the lake and just back way down so that I could fish the new side. Went and checked it out and it was perfect. We just backed way in as he suggested. Got a little muddy getting in the boat, but it is workable, fishing started out a little slow but ended up with 55 catfish. I know this is the crappie section but some of you crappie fish up there and I simply wanted to give you an update on launching. A buddy of mine went two weeks ago and said the tunnel is too shallow to get thru. Need some rain!

Thanks for the update. I was wondering about the tunnel and crossing over to the new side. Looks like I may need to take the 4wd and a jon boat to fish the new side.

You won't need the 4 wheel drive as the old road is solid. Just take you some rubber boots to get in and out of the boat.

If I'm reading this correctly, I think he is saying he launched on the new side but can't get through the tunnel to the old side.

Yes if your going to fish the old side there are I think two boat ramps, but you can't cross thru the tunnel.
If you fish the new side you will have to launch on the old highway that is just West of the old boat ramp. Also it's so close that if you had to you could drive around and park your vehicle at the old boat ramp. Look it up on google before you go.
