The 0513 means the rod was built in May of 13 the 0612 means it was built in June of 12. I broke a rod earlier this year and the guy at Duckett asked me for those numbers. He then told me that was the date the rod was built. That way they can keep track of them for warranty purposes.

That's exactly what I was trying to do. That's when the manager told me the circled 4-digit number designates a different model and he wouldn't match it. If you get it done let me know and I'll go back to my store here and try again with that info as ammunition :-)

Hey Guys...I purchased these at the new Academy in Garland. They did not have a price on them so I scanned them and they came up at $39.98. I scanned the only 3 they had and they all came up the same. Before heading to the check out I told two employees they may be priced wrong and they said they were not. Before checking out I saw an old buddy looking at rods so I gave him one of them.

I go to this store at least twice a week and have never seen Ducketts there before.

Best deal I have scored in a long time.

If they're ringing up 39.98, it means they are on clearance. Anything that ends in a 8 means "clearance". The store isn't going to get any more in so buy them if you find them! I'm a Duckett fan myself, so I'm still in shock that y'all were able to find those at Academy.

Academy plants these deals every once in a while. Word of mouth gets around quick which in turn gets more people in the door. Great find

I went to the one are arbrook in Arlington they only had one of the 0513 ones. If someone wants to stop by and grab it before me go ahead. I'm stuck at the movies for the next couple of hours.

The product in stores ring up differently some times. Even their online deals will ring up different. Just keep your eye on those rods and keep scanning them when you visit the store. They'll come down on price eventually.

This is why I love Academy, hands down my favorite in store shopping for tackle and equipment. Anything that can be bought through academy, I buy through academy! I bought several packs of h20 hooks for $0.01 each a few weeks ago that an associate handed to me while I was bargain hunting, as well as some nice soft plastics, and a new Abu spinning setup that was $300 some-odd worth of kit for right around $100. Can't beat it! I also picked up some YUM Money kits for like $2 each on clearance, worth it for the weighted hooks alone probably, or even just the plastic trays... never mind all the nice plastics.

Their warranty is hands down my favorite though.... I have literally had to argue with 4 people at the counter at Cabellas over EXACT same incident, having urchased Cabelas extended warranty, an had them not want to honor, meanwhile Academy lets you make in store returns with no receipt at different locations. They may not be fishing experts, but their retail customer service, save for a few absent minded kids who work the stores, is second to none in my book. I would love to get sponsored by them once I get into doing more tournament angling.... who knows, maybe one day soon!

The store in Tomball has three but they ring up at the regular $159.99 price. They called the garland store and were told they come up at $159.99 when checked by barcode. It was also interesting to find out that the store does not show them in the system.

Lufkin has them at $159.99.
