I just acquired a new Shimano Curado 50e...I see they're perfect for throwing small lures.
My question is - what rod to pair with it. I don't want to spend more than around $150...less is best, but I do want to be able to toss around those tiny lipless cranks and even Mepps. I welcome any advice on brand, strength and action.

I currently have it on a St. Croix Mojo Bass Med Fast. Seems too stiff, but then they run a half action stiffer IMO

Thanks

7' medium Falcon Bucoo. Great rod for small crankbaits and things of that nature. Also has a parabolic action that will really help keeping fish buttoned on those small treble hooks. Very light as well.

Some folks say that fishin on a Sunday is a sin, but if a fish bites my line, you know I'm gonna reel him on in!

If I could suggest a rod for you it would be the Abu Garcia Veracity "Winch" rod. I use these rods myself and these rods are very light weight and very sensitive. I would recommend the 7' medium action with the medium action tip. I believe this would be perfect for the smaller baits that you want to use.

Thanks Herb! Funny because I have it on an older Abu Verdict (which I think was the rod the Veracity replaced) which I like a lot. It is rated as a medium but whips around like a half power less. Fast tip and works well. I only have trouble w 1/4 oz stuff in the wind. But I think I'm pushing the limits of a baitcaster at this point. I was hoping to be able to cast 1/8...but I don't think that's possible....unless I go to 8# test. I've never gone that low on a baitcast.

I really love ultralight fishing and love my old Curado...I may have to super-tune...sounds like a fun project. I hear Shimano Compre may also be an option
