Interested in what most of you think is the best spinning reel for a drop shot, plan on spending around 100.00 or a little more. Thanks for your input.

Bass pro shops extreme for the money. They are running a 5 day hot deal sell with a viper bait cast and spinning reel. The spinning reel is 19.99 for a 10 bearing system and metal frame. I bought the bait caster, and almost bought the spinning reel.

Love the Quantum Smoke 2500 I have on my drop shot rod. Smooth, reliable, lightweight.

I like the Shimano Symetre at the $99 price point. They're also approved for salt water.

Quantum - Accurist model or higher
Shimano - Symetre model or higher

Sizes would be 2500, 25, 3000, 30

Balance with the rod is very important. It also helps prevent fatigue.

Seconded... based on no back to back testing but that it's what I use, and it's just suck a delightful reel. I figure most feedback on stuff like this is from people who don't have much if any experience other than "this is what I chose" anyways lol.

Also worth noting I think I paid about 1/3rd retail or less on it at Academy on sale, and then a month later it was on sale for $20 cheaper still, which was crazy as that put it at the same cost when I purchased, and then even cheaper than the next Abu down from it price wise, and the mid/lower end reels weren't ever marked down any.

Pretty sure I paid $49 in store when it and my veritas rod were on sale and I couldn't help but buy them.... then I swear it was marked at $29 the next time I was there, at the one off 75 in Plano.

I like using the Abu Garcia Orra SX. It has a very smooth drag system and offers 12lbs of drag. It also has a spool that you can tie braid on to it directly with out using a mono backing.
