I did some reels today to get ready for the fall. I am ready for a big one.

The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

Sounds like good answer to me ..Just set Drag according to line ..and of course reel size and rod should be within line weight capacity.. I see so many reels come in lets say Abu 5500 with 80# braid and a med casting rod rated for 10-20 line..And they got drag locked down and there complaint is drag won't hold (DU)All I can say is if it did it would pull spool out or bust rod probably both..

I'm not very swift on reels so why would the size of the line and rod make their drag not hold or bust the rod and/or reel if it did hold to the 15lb max drag of the 5500?

Oh I use 20# Big Game in solar collector and 40lb Big Game in clear for leader.
