I wear neoprene fleece lined fingerless gloves. If it is real cold, I will put hot hands in the palms. Keep the core warm and it will help. Extremities get cold because of heat being transferred in closer to your heart a protective measure by nature.

Gloves are only way or get a ether bait caster with more control. Al mine are set up were I basically don't ever have to thumb the spool unless I'm casting into wind

Lite gloves with hand Warner's on back of hand works well for me. No glove on reeling hand unless really really cold. Motion makes it less likely to get cold.

I have a pair of cabela's hunting guid gloves. They are awsome and alows you to take your fingers out when you need them. As for keeping from having over-run's, or as I like to say "I KVD'd", is to set your tention a little tighter and keep your casts low.

Winter is why they sell them little packaged hand warmers. Buy a pair of gloves that has the little thumb flap. With the hand warmer in your glove you will be good to go.

Wear what ever gloves are comfortable to you and cut the area of the glove where your thumb would touch the spool while casting but leave the top part of the glove intact. That's what works for me.
