it still is a great little lake. lots of grass and pads, but the cold weather is starting to kill t hem of. lake is full!

Dinks are everywhere, but still fun to catch. caught them from 13ft deep to 2 foot deep last time I was there. Even caught a Pike on a trap..

Have fun.. be safe when running mid lake

Fished it a few times in last month. Love that little lake. Been fun fishing it. I would imagine the winter bite is great out there.

That was a Chain Pickerel. That's a very rare fish in Texas and it's native to Little Sandy Creek, which forms Lake Hawkins.

Lake Hawkins used to be a great little lake, but too many bass fishermen have been loving it to death in recent years.

WOW
My parents owned a weekend house in the middle area between the Bridge and the Fish Hawk. I was about 10 until 15 in 1970s. No other kids around. I fished and fished and fished. Lower half of the lake was all standing timber. We had a boat with a 40 hp I was out in that alone all day. Parenting was different then. I caught a 6 lb bass a 7 and an 8 in one day.. We ate em.. There was a 7ft alligator near the bridge for a while. I could go on and on. Last time I was there was 5 yrs ago.

Thanks for bringing up Lake Hawkins

It was my childhood lake too..... Dad put me an aluminum bass boat at the fish hawk and I fished it 80 days a year from 1979-1984 ..... I need to go fish it because I haven't been back since!

Everything I know about bass fishing has a foundation I learned on this lake....

I grew up fishing that lake also... It didn't matter where we moved, we would always make a trip to Hawkins for a week or so every summer. Ole' fish hawk point has kept a lot of secrets and made a lot of memories...

Too many locals eating their catch, which is fine.
Except when they dump a days limit of filleted bass carcasses into the lake, and then head out for more. Game Wardens never show up when called.

its a lake where either they eat or they don't for me. In about 6 trips its either feast or famine. First time ever I was there 5 minutes and had one over 6lbs off a dock. Its got so much cover it makes it fun.
