What, in your opinion, is the best flutter spoon out there to Fish at fork? Size and color?

Joe Spait flutter spoon 5" silver with chartreuse center line.

The lake fork brand is ok, but it doesn't have the skirt. Joe's Spoon is the original and what I use.

Add another to Joe Spaits' family of favorites. Only spoon I throw, AsAMOF. I have been a fan for a LOOONNNNGGGGG time. Back into the early 200o's. It is heavier and has a different wobble. It was the spoon that the LF flutter spoon was patterned after. Go with the original. Hope this helps.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Also works on Alan Henry, too.

Any suggestions on what rod/line to throw it with? Sounds like I'll be throwing a brick!

Most of the heavier/larger flutter spoons all come from same supplier. Only differences are hooks, split rings and possibly the paint job. No one is having a special cut done or anything.

+ 1 .. I have the exact same blanks as joe! Being a guide and my customers losing 3 or 4 per day I just couldnt justify the price. I did some research and now make my own(which I believe are superior in color, hooks and skirt material). I now make my own for about 3 bucks each! I also use double split rings which lets the spoon swivel in a 360 degree motion and less fish getting off after being hooked! Just some FYI..Ron

mark i know that you know your stuff but they are not made the same. some out there are steel, some are brass, and yes different makers have slightly different cuts. now if one is buying the same blank as the other guy then paint is the only difference. btw if the flutter spoon is made with the material that imo provides best action then a paint job will not hold up at all. for this reason i use the original big joe. he uses the hologram stickers to add color and those rarely get damaged.

I like the Talon in 1.25 and 1.5 oz, and for a little shallower water or less active fish I like the Nech's Wilderness and Nichols in 3/4 oz. Best colors have some gold, yellow, or blue in them.

The Talon 1.5 oz is a little shorter and is highly effective deep and on windy days.

Mark is right on the vast majority of flutter spoons use Lakeland Tackle blanks and then add their own touches to it.

Do any of the Fork guys use rattles on your spoons? Do you attach them yourself or buy them installed? Any tips appreciated.

I only use Talon. Caught a lot of big fish on them on different lakes.

Comapare a few brands in your hand is all I am saying. I know where I get mine from and they seem identical to most of the others.
