What do you think about bright colored line for dead sticking in the winter months? Does it seem to spook them or not? I am from Missouri and come down in the winter months but haven't done much dead sticking.

Tried some fluorescent orange line from suffix last year during deadsticking season didnt like it. Switched back to some clear mono and the fishing picked up. Just my expeirience. Ill stick with what working unless i find someyhing better. Im always trying new things.

I use the Suffix 832 braid in the dark green color. Sensitivity is a must, in my opinion.

I was given a spool of white colored braid and I believe my catch ratio went down, quit using white and it came right back. The dark green color blends into the water almost invisible.

Sometimes they bite up. When this happens the line bows showing slack in the line. For better catch ratios you need to set the hook the instant the bow in the line appears. Bright color line helps you see the bowed line quicker, especially for aged eyesight. My preference is colored line with 3 foot floro leader. All those have color line and don't like can send to me. aka blindsided Why do u need to see your line when fishing straight down or is that not the motive ?

With a sensitive rod and/or braided line, you shouldn't need to see the 'slack' bites, as you'll feel them.

That leads to the sensitivity of the rod you use as well. I can feel the weight of the bait "dissapear" long before I can see slack in the line. I use TFO Tactical Series rods (carbon fiber) for this reason. Any rod will work of course, but, you will hook up more often with a sensitive rod with a fast tip.

Apparently there are some here that with their rod can and do catch their fish by feel only. I catch by both at times, but find being a line watcher pays off in bigger dividends in fish bite to catch ratio. Since this was proven to me as I observed a top pro fishing the huge long clear glass fishing aquarium at a local boat show, using and promoting a top of the line fishing rod. Time after time he cast down the length and caught fish that swam towards him and most of the time he had a fish on and didn't know. What also surprised me was the fish bit so often with the crowd standing there looking at them.

Time after time he cast down the length and caught fish that swam towards him and most of the time he had a fish on and didn't know. Well that's a very different scenario than deadsticking or vertical jigging, and colored line might be useful then. What kind of fish was he using in this demonstration? To answer the OP's original question though: What do you think about bright colored line for dead sticking in the winter months? Does it seem to spook them or not? I am from Missouri and come down in the winter months but haven't done much dead sticking. With as many weird colors of lure that get used for sandbass & hybrids, I'm not sure they would really be spooked by odd colored line. If anything, it might catch their attention.

You guys are getting too old. Back in the day, a stripper post would get all sorts of hilarious responses. I can see your thoughts..... Some of you really held back.
