Just curious on your thoughts on drop shotting preference.
Casting or spinning rod and why

It depends on the cover/structure that I'm fishing. I prefer spinning for light line and open water. I prefer bait casting for grass and heavy wood when I use heavy line.

Spinning rod. Normally I am fishing 8lb. line with 3/16 oz. weight. Easier to cast.

Bait cast, but I like fishing it around cover, docks, lilly pads, grass etc... I feel you can pitch it much more accurately with a bait cast.

A few years ago it wouldn't have mattered to me but if I'm fishing a drop shot finesse style then I'm using a sissy stick. It's much more comfortable to me now that way. I feel with light line and rod I feel things much better compared to a casting set up.

Casting for open water. Spinning for docks/bridge pillars.

I follow these general guidelines: Light line and weights up to 3/8 oz. = Light Spinning Heavier line and weights 1/2 oz plus = Baitcast
I prefer the light drop shot on the spinning setup. It's very versatile and thus can be used for a variety of presentations. Plus, I love the sound of a fish pulling that drag.

Lighter weight and lighter line I use a spin caster, heavier line and heavier weight I use a baitcaster

Bait caster when im pitching or casting the drop shot, spinning when I am fishing vertical (right under the boat) usually in 20ft or deeper.

Casting for open water. Spinning for docks/bridge pillars. This, only the exact opposite!

Spinning just for the ease and speed of quick drop at a deep dock or rock pile.

I have started using braid with a long flouro leader on a spinning rod and really like it. I also like it for shaky heads as well. Thanks for everyone's input
