My client (from Indiana)pulled his beautiful boat down to Texas to HOPEFULLY land a trophy fish. (The same goal we ALL have, right?) He started at Lake Fork (which is obviously a logical trophy destination). It did not happen there and I was delighted to be able to put him on his personal best (8.50) from Lake Austin. We had some other quality fish from our 2 days that I will post below. And YES, I repeat YES, THE FISH WAS RELEASED. Don't get all excited because of the land pic. He wanted to get high quality photos with his "REAL CAMERA" (which was in his truck) vs using a phone camera, which is the pic you are viewing here. We were in a $70,000 Ranger and YES, the livewell worked. Fish swam off fine.......We've been on some good fish. You should join me sometime. More info below in my signature line.

Nice fish!
Seems Lake Austin has been coming on strong the last couple years. What's your opinion on why that is? I don't know much about the lake.

Ryan Gibson, I think, like Falcon, Lake Austin has always had good fish in it. Things get circulated very easily now with forums and social media and such. I think there are more lines in the water. When that happens, the chance for SOMEONE catching a big fish is greater. I think the lake was more viewed as a "recreational lake", which is it sure in the hell is too. It gets crazy out there in warm weather, and you have to deal with a lot of boat wakes, and people coming way too close to you (including inconsiderate fishermen, UNFORTUNATELY. I see it all the time.
