What is the best set of waders to wear when fishing from a sit-on kayak in this colder weather?

I personally use the Mag 2. They work great for me. I wore them for 7 hours and the next day for 9 on our Pecos River trip a few weeks ago. And was up and down all day with no problems. Also most the day this past monday. I like the breathable sock foot the best. But there are so many out there. Main thing is to wear the wader belt and of course your pfd. Good luck with the search.

Here's a link to the one's I have. Not sure how long they'll last with all the river fishing I do, but so far so good. Anyway, just my two cents. Hope this helps a little. http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores...CFShk7Aod9DsAGw

I purchased the Caddis Fly waders last year and like them a lot. The only problem is they're not available locally, so I had to trust their sizing chart online and they fit great. Got the watching wading boots too. The Magellan Mag2 from Academy that Aggroman mentioned are very popular.
You need to start driving around and looking because waders start becoming hard to find in store this time of the year for obvious reasons. That's why I had to order online because I couldn't find any waders in my size around me.

I'm in waders a lot duck hunting and fishing.
I've had great success with the Patagonia breath ables and the Simms Guide Boot. An expensive solution for sure, but sometimes you can get deals on the Patagonia breath ables.

I wear the frog Togs breathable with wading boots... I just layer underneath it and it's worked great so far.
I was funny about getting waders with a belt to help out if I was too flip - debatable for sure but still a thought.
Good luck!

I've gone in the river several times with my waders on. The belt makes a big difference in how much water goes inside your waiters.
I like high quality breathable waders.

IMO, fishing from a kayak is a lot easier on waders than wade fishing - you're not bending down, putting knees on rocks, slipping, falling, scooting up and down banks, going through briars, etc. - so, if price is an issue, most of the cheaper ($50ish) breathables will work well. If you are wanting something for both yak and bank fishing, look to the best (often the more expensive) you feel comfortable buying.
One decision in waders is whether to go with built-in shoes/boots or booties and separate shoes. I prefer booties as I find I can always get a better shoe fit than the built-ins. On average, they tend to be lighter and with a pair of waders, I can alternate between sandals, canvas felt bottom boots and zip-up neoprenes depending on what I am doing and weather/temp. My .02

If you river fish, one of the best things about a sit-on-top is the ability to hop on and off your kayak easily. You want waders that don't inhibit that. Neoprene waders do. Stick with breathable waders, and from there, let you budget be your guide. If you're style yakking will be hard on the waders (i.e., dragging through thorn filled brush to access water), then buy the cheaper end waders.
