3/4 c brown sugar 1/4 c boiling water 1/2 c sugar 3 tablespoons flour 1/2 teaspoon salt
Cook stirring constantly until it starts to thicken. add in 1 1/2 c milk beaten with 3 egg yolks.
Keep cooking until it thickens again.
Take off the heat and add 1 tablespoon butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pour into a cooked pie crust and bake at 400 just 5 minutes or so until the top is browned. This is normally covered in meringue or whipped cream.

I looked all over the store and could not find boiling water. I found Dasani, Great Value, Ozarka...all sorts of water but could not find boiling. Where do you get your at? Sounds like a great tasting pie though!

Light brown sugar or dark brown sugar?
On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?

Either one works. This recipe is from my 1945 Texas cooking cookbook. It didn't specify.
