Ram4bass .. did you find anything on your fishfinder ?

A few weekends ago, I ran around bachman and found very little structure.. I was surprised how shallow the lake was on the east end 5-9' and by the dam only 11' and very flat featureless bottom. The famous corner of rip rap west of the rec center, didn't show anything of major intrest. Or at least that is how I read my unit, but still learning .

I did find a few rocks, lone stumps etc.. I also found what looked like a submerged kids jungle gym east of the rec center.

I live 10mins from Bachman, but can't seem to make it produce.

I may have to try and Bribe Rudy to go out on my tin boat with me and teach me how to fish smile.

I saw almost nothing in terms of structure and it is very shallow. Fish finder showed only small bass and the occasional cat.

But there are fish there! I've seen Rudy pull 'em out of there on Rooster Tails. I've pulled out a few, but not much. I'm determined though....I am going to sink some trees there for the crappie.

Try the creek by Lemmon. It's shallow, but tons of structure. I used a red eye shad, but the hang ups were plenty. Why mess with success....if Rudy says Rooster Tails then Rooster Tails it is!

Bachman isn't too far from where I'm at either. I might grab a rooster tail or 2 and run down there some evening. Is night fishing permitted there?

It looks pretty seedy there as it already is, so I'd stick to the day time.

Ummm....yeah, I wouldn't be there past sundown. I carry a badge and more than fishing tackle and still would steer clear. Chances are no one will mess with you, but it IS a high-crime area. Don't leave valuables in car and you should be ok.

Daytime is fine. But as with all Dallas area parks - night time brings trouble.

I have been fishing there deep night for over 30 years and never had a problem. Park officially closes at 11. I have stayed as late as 2 am no problems. I usually don't even get there till 10:30 pm or so,after work. Crappie fishing can be awesome Around the bridges late at night

Putting some structure in the lake would really concentrate the crappie.

You guys take a fun thing and turn it into a" tired head" topic in a heartbeat. I go chunk and wind and catch. Real rocket science! Or I drop jig and catch. You guys take all the fun out of it

There's definitely action waiting to be had on Bachman, but like a few others here, can't seem to get any interest. Went out early Sunday by the Lemon area and got chased off by an angry beaver, so went over toward the rowing club and started walking the banks and casting as much as the wind would let me. Saw at least 3 pretty good size splashes of active fish, a couple within range but the biggest was definitely farther than I can cast. Was using maroon colored Senko Texas Rig with just a small shot weight to get some distance on the cast. Getting kind of frustrating but I'm also thinking weather has been doing some tricks on that water as well. Might start using more top water frog like stuff or a heavier type rattle bait to get it out into where it seems like there's some activity.

I'd like to try fishing under the bridges but that stuff is shallow from what I first experienced (not keen on losing more stuff right now), and certain ones seem to be in-use by some locals, as in, they live under them. Very interesting lake though. Lots of areas to go through. That creek really is interesting though, I'm thinking that's where I'm going to have luck. There's also a kind of hard-to-reach spot where the lake and creek meet around the big divider thing in the water.

Might try to come out and participate in the tournament for the cause, because I'm obviously not in any danger of cleaning up haha! Glad to have some regulars here too though. I'm about 15 minutes away and will probably keep dropping by on weekend mornings until I can't stand the weather for it.

Um that particular bass DID NOT come from Bachman, but an even smaller, less pressured urban puddle! I ain't telling if Ram4Bass ain't.
