Today, I opened an old plano box I had setting around, and found some black and silver baby slug-gos. Been years and years since I have seen these things, and I never caught anything on em back when I got em (still lived in CO, home of the dink bass)...

I wanna give em a go down here, anyone got tips and techniques?

When we used em before, we fished em weightless, in a slow gliding motion or twitched em along near the top of the water, but like I said, they never worked for me back then...

That was my #1 Creek Bait(Brushy Creek) when I resided in Round Rock back in the early 90's. I used to live in Creek Bend Sub. and had a house right on the Creek. Caught tons of fish on those dudes.

Caught a ton of fish on slugo. Fish it weightless and slow. Same as a fluke or senko.

back in the early 90's was at minnow bucket in line with fishing buddy when he noticed guy in front had several packs of slugo's and said we need to get some of them and i said no way them things are ugly well bought a pack and never read the back so we fished em' texas rigged and absolutly wore them out caught 2 almost 8lbs in one day after day or two he tossed me pack and said read back lol they were soft jerkbaits never knew we were suppose to fish em weightless...
pulled out one last spring pumpkin seed and fished it weightless and bout 5 mins later caught one...so they still catch bass 20yrs later
I still have several colors and they still catch fish something they don't see much anymore either....

I like to work them fast for a few feet then kill it. rigged and worked right they will almost jump out of the water then a slow fall. Caught a lot of fish on them at Fork. I still have a box full of different colors.

Man I'm jealous. I LOVED to fish those when I was a kid. My previous PB was caught on one, that exact black and silver color you have. I've always worked them very slowly. . .and if I don't get bit I slow down until I do, because I used to almost always get bit on them. Great lures.

They worked great fishing in grass! Are they still available anywhere?

They still sell them at Barlow's in Richardson.

Yum has a copy that you'll occasionally find in the $1.98 boxes on the bottom shelf of the Walmart fishing aisle.

I bought some at Bass Pro last year and they still work as good as they did when they first came out.

Just make sure you rig them correctly with the keel side down. They used to show this on the back of the package.

I can't believe they're still for sell. I thought there were discontinued years ago. I would rather fish a Slugo over a yamamoto senko weightless any day of the week. The creek I fished in as a kid was crystal clear and we could clean up on those things.
