I stopped by Steve's a while back and we ran the motor up to where he said ought to be full trim, which was just about all the way up on the gauge. When running WOT the trim stops lifting about 3/16 below that, which is about 3/4 on the gauge. The thing that gets me is the 5400 rpm and 20ish psi. Shouldn't the RPM's be up a little and the H2O psi down a little?

I'm just gonna put this out there in anticipation of the certainty a clown will show up, I'm basing that speed on the gps of my 998 with external puck, and my iPhone gps

The ZX190 has plenty of trim available. No wedges are needed.
I use a digital gauge for my trim. About 65% is full trim for running. 85% is off the trim rods and on the tilt.
On the analog gauge I was trimming a needle width past the 3/4 mark.
66 out of this hull/motor combo stock is really good. The Yamaha performance bulletin has max speed at 62.8 with two people.

The wedge was installed upside down from what you're imagining. It allowed for more tuck, ie, hole shot. I was curious if the new redesigned hulls used them as I haven't been around a new boat in awhile. My 08 I class had it as did my 05 zx250.

I figured when they redesigned the new hulls they got rid of the need for them.

I wouldn't touch a thing. Like I said you are getting as much out of that set up as you can get.

I have 4 different GPS antenna from two OEMs and they all match.
GPS is going to provide consistent results. I have seen big jumps on my smaller Humminbirds when they have trouble locking on but my 998 and Garmin are always spot on.
My results are consistent with others that are running TZX190s with jack plates and 175s.

With a 25 pitch prop you are doing great at 5400. To get more RPMs you will need to drop down to a 24 pitch prop. Steve's Prop Shop worked with me to get the right prop. I started with a Turbo TXP 25P. It ran exactly like the Yamaha 25M. I traded that for the 24P and got the rest of the performance. Dropping down to a 24 should get you 200 more RPMs. The 175s are good all the way to 6000.
Your water pressure is great. At full up trim you will lose some in tight turns. You might also notice more slip. Mine runs about 25 at full throttle and will drop down to 15 or slightly less in turns.

When I run the river I trim down a little to take the turns better and keep the water pressure up. On the open lakes I trim up as high as I can get keeping an eye on MPH and RPMs. If RPMs go up and speed drops you are trimmed too high.
Your trim for top performance will change depending on your load.
The other thing you will want to set up will be the prop shaft to pad height.
My dealer recommends 3 3/4" which is lower than what I run. For better handling I run at 3 1/2". For all out speed I run at 3".
The boat runs flatter at this height but lightly loaded it moves. The higher the load and the better handling you need to go deeper. At 3" steering is very stiff at high trim and speed.
At 3 3/4" I get some chine walking over 60 and the boat porpoises at 25 with trim full down.
At 3 1/2" I can drive with two fingers well over 60 with no chine walking and I can stay on plane down to about 20 MPH.

Mine shows the same characteristics as yours at 3 3/4. Need to measure it and jack it up a little to 3 1/2 if it's at 3 3/4. It was set up by my dealer, so that may be the case. Did you notice more speed with the higher RPM created by the 24?

My top speed with the 25 was lower.
With the 24 I was able to get the motor up to 3" get the RPMs up over 5700-5800 and get the little extra speed.
Another thing I like about the 24 is the acceleration.
On the river lakes here there isn't much passing room so when you get a chance to pass you have to jump on it. Going from 30 to 50 is seconds.
Theoretical speed difference does have the 25 about .3 MPH faster assuming a 200 RPM difference. However, if you can get the motor up higher then the RPM difference is greater and the 24 wins.

I am pretty sure if you have the time and money you can slip over to Hydrotech in the Ozarks and have some mods done that will not void your warranty. Yamaha is aware of this from what I have been told. You definitely need to be using the other 3-400 rpms that you paid for, no reason to let it go dormant.

On another board a Hydrotech rep was floating the idea of a mobile team going from region to region to install phase kits.
If they came here I would bite especially if warranty wasn't an issue.
It is a cheaper way to get 70 mph out of a Skeeter than buying a ZX20 with the SHO.
