The problem I've had with Mettles is the push button release on the left side. The butt of my hand has depressed the button several times when I set the hook, causing the side of the reel and even the spool to fall out onto the deck. A couple of weeks ago the side of the reel went into the water. So much for that reel.

Why didn't they just screw the thing together like a Revo, or have a push and twist assembly like a Curado?

Easy fix is to file down the underside of the bottom so it sits flush. Small screw on the inside file it down so its flush and reinstall.
