When someone mentions cat fishing.. I am OUT. Well, a guy on Hubbard that I met a few years ago,Kerry Murphy guides for catfish and has been bugging me for a long time to go out with him. I ran into him a couple of weeks ago and he asked me again if I wanted to go. My boat just happened to be in the shop so I reluctantly agreed. OMG....we boated fifty fish up to 17 lbs. The action was fast and furious. I never imagined it could be so fun to fish for cats.So yesterday we went out again and boated thirty up to twelve pounds. What a blast!! It was a little slower after that cold front but still plenty of action. So I must confess that I am now going to be cat fishing more often. If you want to contact Murphy his number is 469 628 0197.
But please don't mention this on the bass forum. My bass fishing buddies will think I have lost it.
****UPDATE 11/19****
Well I couldn't wait to do this agin. Went out with Murphy yesterday again and we slayed them. We threw back a 21 lb,a 13 lb., and seven more between 6 and 9. We kept our limit of 50 with about a 3lb average. We also missed and lost another 20 or so. It was AWESOME fishing that was fast action almost the entire day. We quit about 2:30 and I was certainly ready to call it a day. If you would like to stock your freezer now is the time to do it!!

You're not the only one! I happen to know of another die hard bass man that's been snooping around the catfish section asking questions. I even heard he spent a whole afternoon sitting in the back of the boat holding a rod baited with cut shad while his partner fished for sand bass! He didn't get bit but once he does it on!
Jbragg was the one fishing for sand bass, I don't mind outing him but I wont tell the other guys name!

I mainly fish for cats and crappie but have always enjoyed the challenge of going after bass during the spawn. Just to be able to fish and enjoy the beauty of Gods creation any day is a good day!

Cat fishermen are a lot friendlier too. Never seen a cat man break his $150 rod and throw it water and do 70 on way back to the ramp. I recently found a whole tackle box worth of watermelon colored jigs just thrown in the water. I can just see the guy telling his friend to get that s... Out of my boat!

God bless the starving pigmees in new guinea I'll tell you what, I'll take you out for some blue cats if you will take me to Murry for some of those small mouth? You do fish Murry right? I used to catch them up there by accident when I was younger and I'd love to try my hand at em now.

Chunking and winding from sun up to sun down is just not as fun is it? Plus I am always trophy hunting when I go out. It it fun to catch fish big enough to eat the biggest scaley fish that you have previously caught. You mess around and catch a 30 or a 40 pounder and you will be insanely hooked. Welcome to a new and awesome addiction.
