It all started yesterday when I called my group and told them the forecast. The weather man said 30 mph wind from the north. High winds are one thing that can ruin a crappie trip fast. My group said they still wanted to go so we met this morning for a 1/2 day of crappie fishing. When we met at 7:00am the wind was already howling. We left log cabin and ran out to the main lake where we were reminded how hard the wind was blowing. With 2-3 ft swells hitting the bow every second there was no doubt it was gonna be challenging. We settled the boat down on a spot in 10 ft of water and started fishing. Due to the high wind we could only hit about 4-5 spots and boat control was still tough. After 4 hours of constant trolling motor adjustments and a few lost jigs we managed 22 crappie. What a morning, I was glad we got that many. Ofcourse we would have normally rescheduled this trip before we left the dock but it goes to show even on the worst days some crappie can still be caught.

I got up at 4, got my coffee and opened the door to the deck and closed it and went back to bed! No way I was going to hit the lake this morning. Actually had breakfast with Matt and we said, 'I'll bet even Chuck cancels any trip planned today'....should know better than bet against bigcrappie.com!

(I'm betting Land and Chris stayed next to the fire place this morning?) wimps.....just saying....hehehe

I'd been in bed too if I could of pulled it off. Yea I bet they were too. Just saying..
