Yesterday the Slabslayer and I decided to get out in spite of the rain and do a little crappie huntin at CCL. There was only mild rain in the forecast with it being overcast all day. We arrived at our fishing destination around 11:30 and fished until about 4:30. Things started out unpromising as we only had a hybrid in the boat within the first 30 minutes of fishing but but slowly began to pick up thereafter. Our first couple of crappie came off of brush piles in about 12 foot of water. The next few came off of bp's in about 14 foot of water. We fished the area thoroughly and then decided to take our chances on another location altogether that was in 16-17 foot of water. It paid off. The fish were active and willing to thump. We ended the day with 31 keeper crappie and a hybrid with quite a few throwbacks. Most of our fish were caught on a hand tie that the Slabslayer made himself and Jigum's Paty (cinnamon blue) jig. I've posted a few pics of our catch below. All in all it was a very pleasant day.
