My brother and I bought an early 80's model Bass Tracker for my Dad this last father's day. Since then, he and I have rebuild the trailer, rewired/fixed the rat nest of wires that are in there and got everything working. Even mounted a new trolling motor and fish finder. Now we have the motor left to deal with. I was told it's a Force motor (yeah, I've heard that they aren't the best but that's what we've got to work with). I believe it's about a 30 or 40 horse?? With these pictures, can anyone help identify exactly what we've got? I got it started but the bowl on the carb leaks and I've had to replace the plugs and spark plug boots. I need help figuring out what motor this is so I can try to find parts for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

This is at the rear latch for the engine cover

These last two are of the engine cover. Not sure if these decals have anything to do with the motor

it is a force engine, marine power on the serial number tag tells that.
can't find any listing for the serial or model numbers though, best bet is try bass pro for a cross reference and see if they can link it to another model/serial #.

here is a great source for parts once you find which model.

chrysler built those I believe and you may or may not be able to find parts for them.

I see that motor and see a money pit. I got lucky with my force 40 but it was one of the last ones made. From what
I understand the stator goes out on them alot.

Force, if am not mistaken, was made by Chrysler, then was purchased by Mercury. So, Mercury dealers still sell parts for Chrysler motors.

They are pretty good motors. Just like any motor, if you neglect it, it will fail.

Here are some service manuals for you help you on your way. It takes a little getting use to using the digital manual but it is free!!

This is the same website, but it list many other manuals.
Evinrude, Johnson, Mercury, Mariner, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Volvo Penta. Chrysler is listed under other.

I know where their is a real good complete 40hp Mariner. This is the year they used Yamaha powerheads. Reason I am telling you this is because that motor is a money hole. The exhaust adapter is always breaking and blowing gaskets.
