Sat., Oct 26, is Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day. A well deserved day of good comfort food, to get you ready for all the t-giving foods coming soon. Where are you going to have your CFS fix on this day? So many choices to make, I would have one from Matts if I could get one! Enjoy

Best chicken fried in texas a few years back (according to Texas Monthly) was Mary's Cafe in Thurber....if you have never been there and done that...and you love chicken fried steak...you owe it yourself to make that trip...

Actually, Mary's Caf is a little farther down the road in Strawn. But I definitely agree - it's the best CFS I've ever had. (this pic is a medium size CFS)

As far as I'm concerned, every day could be chicken fried steak day! Just wish I could eat it that often and hope to stay alive until the next serving.

Mary's is good, but if you have not tried Arlington Steak House off of Division your missing out! And get the yellow gravey when they ask if you want white or yellow.

Going to have to try out the Arlington Steak House. Go by there quite often as my daughter owns a business down the street. Has been there a long time - must be good. How are their other steaks - quality and price wise?

Unfortunately, the yellow gravy they serve now is not same gravy they served there for all those years. CFS is still decent and the yeast rolls are good but I wish they could get the recipe for the old, original yellow gravy.

For a chain restaurant CFS, Cracker Barrel is hard to beat.
