Recently moved back to Ft. Worth and was curious if anyone kayak fishes in the LBJ Grasslands near Decatur? Curious of a good place to put in...thanks!

Yup, lots of us fish it......when there's enough water.

Lots of different small lakes. Most have boat ramps. But right now I've heard thst the water level is super low. I plan on going oht this coming weekend to hunt so I'll probably bring my yak and check it out around midday.

Black Creek is not worth the trouble, but Clear Lake is still doable. If you have the time you might try Amon Carter, good access deep water lots of trees, good crappie, sand bass and large mouth.

So not worth loading the yak for, nuemie? I haven't been out there since the spring, so I have no clue what shapes the lakes are currently at.

I have fished the Grasslands probably more than anyplace else this year. Almost (if not all) of the better known fishing holes within the Grasslands are low to extremely low right now. A couple of them to the point that I worry about survival of the fish populations in them.
I don't know of a lake/pond right now that has a ramp that would be usable for its intended purpose. The one at Clear lake really isn't even the best option for backing and putting in a kayak. I have been using the area on the opposite side of the fishing pier from the ramp to put in my kayak.
That said, here is my personal assessment of a few of the better known spots:
Black Creek Lake: extremely low ... long drag from the end of the ramp to find any water. Not my personal fav grassland lake to fish anyway, so I haven't tried the fishing lately.
Cottonwood: low, rough drop off the end of the ramp but not a bad place to put in, even with current water conditions. I still seem to be able to catch some numbers, but I have never had any luck catching many fish of any size here. All the spots I have caught crapppie in the past here are currently dry land.
Clear Lake: I have not been to this lake in about 1 1/2 to 2 months, but last time there it was extremely low and ramp was totally unusable. But this lake has some deep water areas so successful fishing is still possible and should remain so.
Rhodes: I haven't fished this lake this year, but over the past couple of years it seemed to be lower than the others at any given time, so I assume it is extremely low. I keep meaning to drive up to at least look at it, but haven't done it yet.
Hope this helps.
This might be the weirdest, most pointless post ever. I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering fishing

I'll try and post a map or link to one later, but Rhodes is just outside of Alvord proper.

You will never see Rhodes lake from the road. If you are unfamiliar with this area and really want to find Rhodes, when you get to Alvord give me a call, I live only a few minutes from there . 972 .342.8005

Yeah, its a little tricky to find.
I would expect it to be extremely low.

Rhodes Lake Ramp and parking area: Latitude: 33 degrees, 23' 17' Longitude: 97 degrees, 39' 53' here is a "not so good" map from the Forest Service Website: http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5302850.pdfI also want to check out Windmill (Fly fish only) and Chicken Lakes, but have not gotten around to it yet.
