I am wanting to clean my boat carpet.

I am thinking of just going to the car wash and using the high pressure rinse and just spraying the heck out of it - anybody think this will hurt anything?

Also considered getting it steam cleaned - but didn't know if it would maybe release the glue or anything.

I use the car wash about 3 times a yr. soap/rinse and be sure to rinse it really well.

just start from the front and work the sand/dirt to the back so it will drain. be sure to prop the front up when you are done so it will drain good.

I rented a carpet cleaner vacuum from home depot the one that doesn't heat the water and used that. It worked good but the car wash way works as well.

I don't do high pressure wash and the reasons I don't are as follows:
1. You can cut you gel coat if you have a fiberglass rig
2. You can tear your carpet or cut it especially if it has some age on it.
3. Electronics and switches don't like this at all and will let you know that in the form of laying down on you.
How do I know these things? Been there, done that, and got the T-shirt......
I use some Dawn dish washing liquid mixed at a stronger ration in a bucket of water to clean my carpet (with a scrub brush) and if you are dealing with oil from fish attractants etc. Spraying those spots with some Simple Green will usually get rid of those before washing with the Dawn mixture.......and I almost forgot rinse thoroughly.......
