I have a HDS10 in the console that is using a LSS1, I plan on adding a HDS8 with it on the console. I have found some HDS 8's that are using a LSS2 unit. If I get one with a LSS2 unit, will my HDS10 work with a LSS2 unit, or does it have to be a LSS1 only?

Works with either. They are all universal but keep the lss1, it gives better definition over the lss2. The 2 does give a bit more side image distance but lacks in clarity.

I'm curious why you would have both an HDS 10 and 8 on the console?
I have an 8 on the bow and a 9 Touch on the console and that works great for me. Is that what you meant to say or am I missing something?

No, I want both, I want to have one on GPS and another on Sonar/Down imaging. I do not want to be switching around from screen to screen and want to see it on a large screen rather than having both on one screen (Halved) and it becoming smaller.

Question: So I would just hook the new HDS8 into the LSS1 box, hook up power and I am set to go, they would share the same transducers?

Ethernet to each graph from the LSS box. Power cable to each and whamo bamo, set! If you happen to have gen 2 graphs with the newest updates they can even share a single map card. But I'm guessing your 10 is a gen 1.

I have a 12T and a 7 on my console for the same reasons as you want. I run the chart on one and SI/DI & sonar on the other.

Actually I believe this statement is incorrect. As long as both units are connected to the LSS box they can share a single 2D transducer.

I believe you are correct, he can go into the sonar source and select it to read from another source. I had forgot you could change where it's source came from. Sorry Rick.

Actually MAK747 you can also share a sonar thru the LSS-1, I only had to hook up Power and the LSS-1 cable and it shares the HDS-10 info, so I assume it is pulling the sonar off the 10 as well?
