I'm looking to replace several rigs that were stolen from my truck. The reels were all Abu Garcias and were on Shakespeare Ugly Sticks. Just wondering if Academy sells a good catfish rod that won't break the bank. I really liked the Ugly Sticks, but I just hate to go back to Cabelas and pay $60 a pop for them. Can anyone recommend a good MH action rod?

Pro anglers are good in my opinion for medium to large catfish. I have two 10' and 2 7'6" that have been good but I'm downgrading my gear. I need to find something good myself for the new record hc's

Just my opinion stay away from the bass pro rods. The old rods were good. But just had 3, 150.00 a piece bass pro rods break in 2 weeks I use for bass fishing but can imagine the other kind of bass pro rods are the same way.
1st rod broke on a hook set at the tip
2nd rod broke in half while a fish was on it.
3rd rod broke at the tip while reeling in a 4 pound bass.

I like the 7' medium heavy ugly sticks. You can pick them up at Academy for 29.99. I usually try to catch them durning a rod riot when they are 19.99.

I think all the big cat guys are using Pro Anglers now
At $42...can't go wrong.
I have a little experience with them and am leaning in that direction.
They are only on-line now, www.proanglertackle.com

Hope this helps

pop over in the catfish section and say that you are looking for rods.. and im sure someone on their pro staff will respond pretty quick.
I have pro anglers in 7.5' and 10' and I love them
