Hello MN2TX. I moved from Iowa to Houston, TX area about 2 years ago.

My experience has been that bass fishing lures that consistently worked in Iowa aren't as successful in where I live in Texas. I had to experiment and find new lures and they have worked great--but it was a painful and frustrating learning curve!

[Just my thoughts]

Yes, my lures that got slammed in MN aren't doing so well here. I'm just starting to experiment and hopefully it'll be fun as well as painful and frustrating. laugh

Welcome aboard my friend. Glad to have ya. I'm afraid you don't want any fishing advise from me the way I've been losing out as of late. Especially regarding that part of town. BUT....what you DO want is advise from this fella... Lovfldx (AKA Rudy.) Just find him in a post or search that user name and then click on "show post." that will hook you up for some great info from one of the more phenomenal fishermen on this website. I believe he laid out some good places to go in the bank fisherman's map that is posted here.

Went out with a fellow TFF member to White Rock Lake and landed two dinky ones. Learned a whole bunch even though I broke the cardinal rule of being late for fishing (I blame the time change :P). Thanks TFF, especially the bank fishing subforum. smile

Figure I'd post this pic here from the bass fishing subforum.

This was last month at Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, MN. My brother and our cousin was fishing and came upon the guy in the picture tossing a 12" sucker for muskie. Landed this 46" muskie a few minutes later.

Yeah, I had a special fire-tiger colored cotton cordell crankbait that always produced up north. Now I don't even bother using it, but then again I haven't explored other colors of the same lure.
