My wife finaly agreed to go with me on a river trip and we got around to making it happen on Sunday. She said she didn't feel comfortable paddling her own boat so we went the canoe route. That turned out to be a great option with the increased flow from the rain. Not a bad paddle at all in those conditions.

The river was predictably heavily stained from Coon creek on down. Anywhere runoff was coming into the river (and basicly everywhere else) held cats pretty thick.

Here's my PB with a respectable pan sized channel...

a couple scenes from the day..

She let me get in on the action in a few spots...

It was only channels this muddy day but that was fine by me. The weather and flow made a perfect day on the water and unlike most days I was there for more than the fishing this time.

Thanks for the report. I'll be up there next weekend. Glad to hear the water is at a decent level.

If my wife would go with me, I would be in my kayak every weekend. Looks like you had a great day!

Hey Fed
Nice post.
I was at 2114 Sat AM and the water was flowing and super clear.
We caught minor trophies, black bass, and as posting pics here is such a PITA, "we caught minor trophies" is all I can say.

The ONLY reason to fish with a fly rod in Texas
is to throw a POPPER, casting any other type fly just means you're doing something.

Nice. Saturday's PM showers got the feeder creeks flowing and stirred things up. Water was mostly clear the first two miles.

Should get quite a bit more rain tomorrow so I would imagine conditions will remain similar for a few days.

Looks like a nice day and the canoe appeared to be a great choice. Thanks for the report.

Sweet trip. I really enjoy the photo of the rock ledge.
