I'm posting this here since several Tawakoni guru's frequent this section.
I want to buy a lake lot on Tawakoni, but I'm completely ignorant to how things work. I'm under the impression that since it is a Corp lake, private land ownership has to be set back from conservation pool so many feet. Can anybody shed some light on this or point me in the direction where I can find some info?
Also, how easy is it to get a permit for a dock?
Any info is appreciated.

I can't offer any info other than Tawakoni is not a corp lake. It is managed by the SRA.

I just completed a purchase a few months ago. There is a set back on each lot. The real estate agent was able to show us the survey that shows what the set back is but I am pretty sure it varies by lot. You have to "lease" the set back portion from the Sabine River Authority. For our two lots it came out to about 80 bucks a year. As for the dock building i don't think it is difficult at all. Our neighbor said their dock builder did all of the paperwork for them and it didn't seem like it was much of a hassle.

Not hard to get a permit at all...sra office folks here are easy to deal with... Good luck on your purchase...

Not Hard to permit at all. You are limited to the size and distance out from 437.5' above sea level, which is full pool, depending on whether you build a T Head. A covered Boat Dock or a Boat House. Contact SRA and they are great to work with and have documents they will mail you and tell you everything. You can also get water usage for another small annual fee. Their Site is here: http://www.sra.dst.tx.us/

As stated above could be partial sra or all under sra control, depends on lot and location. You do have to get permits and inspections for just about any improvement you do. Fence, dock, awning, deck, ect. The way it was explained to me was so I don't block anyone's view of lake. Lots of really good priced lots all around lake though. Good luck!

My Sis in law is selling her place right off 2 mile bridge in Holiday hills not right on the lake, but accross the street from the HOA park which has lake access and a dock. Small house and 3 acres, be a perfect weekend place.
