Possession Limits
Twice the statewide daily bag limit.
The only exception to the statewide possession limits in fresh water is for striped bass from Lake Texoma.
Please note that on lakes Caddo, Kirby, Livingston, Palestine, Toledo Bend and the Sabine River below Toledo Bend where some daily bag limits are larger than the statewide daily bag, the possession limits remain twice the statewide daily bag limits listed below.
Fish stored by a person at their residence do not apply to their possession limit.
Saltwater finfish species caught in the public fresh waters of this state, saltwater bag, possession and length limits apply.

Can't wait to hear the game warden answer. I guess we might need to have a fish fry.  I sent an email to the Law Enforcement Division about this. I will post the response when I receive it.

This is what I was told in 1986. But laws change. Where did you find this on their website? I searched and was unable to find it. Ignore this request. I use the sentence as a quote and found it at http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/regulations/outdoor-annual/fishing/general-rules-regulations/definitions and at http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/regulations/outdoor-annual/fishing/freshwater-fishing/bag-length-limits.I don't know why my first search did not find this. This makes sense. So nobody needs to have a fish fry to get under the 50 fish limit.

just to clarify "final destination" is not "possession" , of course I never have more than maybe a dozen at any one time unless...
I forget or move them out to the big freezer in the man cave . we are kinda ole school ...

I forget or move them out to the big freezer in the man cave . we are kinda ole school ...
if we need em we just go ketch em I'm even more "ole school" now. I only keep five from each trip, as that is the number we can eat the next day. Gives us fresh fish every time and gives me an excuse to go fishing every day.
