Hey, guys been reading ya"ll a long time and new to the forum, so thought I'd ask the experts, need help on line suggestions (flouro, mono, Braid, color ???) and technique for spooling on to spinning reels, I really want to use the lighter reels but seems I continually get kinking regardless of the technique i use and its driving me crazy sooo palezze help!!!

to the forum! I use 12# braid by Bone Head tackle, great stuff! I use a spinning reel and it spools on easily! Hope this helps

I'm not an expert because I only my own two spinning reels but I have a shimano stradic and sedona and both have some kind of line roller in the bail assembly and I just spool my line on like I would a baitcaster and never have a problem with line jumping off the reel.just be sure to not over load the spool and use to big of pound test for the specific reel.

Get u some berkley trilene mono. 6 to 8 lb test is fine. the XL (extra limp ) is very good. Make sure the line is going on the reel spool the same direction as it was on the line barrel. The way to tell, is crank some on, and then open the bail, if the like tries to come off the spool, flip the line spool over, and then put the line on.
Once you have all the line on your reel that you want, go in the backyard, and tie the line to the fence, and walk as far away as you can. What you want to do is pre stretch your line. You want to slowly pull pressure, then let the line relax. Do this until when u let the line relax, it lays flat on the ground with minimal curling. You want to try and pull the line to abt 75 percent of what u think the breaking point is. When u get to the lake, your line will behave the way it should. I have tried it all, braid, stretch braid, fused, microfuse, ect, ect . I have come full circle and back to the mono. I believe u will lose some bites with colored braid and lines, because the fish can sometimes see it.
Also with mono, sometimes that little bit of extra stretch, is just whats needed to hook a fish good. too stiff a line with no give, can be a bad thing. Especially if you have a strong hookset. You can straighten the hook, pull the hook from thier mouth, snap a pole, ect. Braid does have more sensitivity, but if you cant feel a bite with your index finger holding under the line, your not going to feel it at all anyway.
Other things I dont like abt braid is it tends to go limp noodle when u try to retie and thread the eye of your jigs, and it will cut into your hands when you tried to break off, or are holding it with a hard hookset.
Braid was invented for bass anglers who needed a super strong line to pull spinner baits and crankbaits thru heavy cover without breaking. You cant cast 60 pound mono 60 yards with a 1/2 oz crankbait, but with the small diameter of braid, and its strength you can cast further and have the power.
Crappie is finesse fishing ,. no need for braid. Just my opinion based on 35 years of fishing.

Dang Rottin post a grown man should never say extra limp in any way or form.If you will use berkley fused braid you want be puttin line on very often .So it solves both your problems.Darrell

Also, I too only use Mono line, the trick that works for me is...if you are using a spinning reel, watch which way it turns, if it turns clockwise, then the line must come off the spool that way. That is what I was told in the past. So far it has worked.

Only time I have problem with line coming off spool is when I put too much line on the spool.

Best way , have it spooled at the tackle store, no twist.

Get some power pro 8-10lb test for spinning reel 5lb for vertical jigging with west point crappie reel if you fish slips. Or floroucarbon 6-8lb test works great. You will figure out what you like good luck

line is like vehicles it seems to me ....
lots of good ones out there ...
and lots of good anglers use lots of different lines ...
probably whatever you like is best ...
there are some great tips in here ...
line should match the reel
1/8 inch from full is full on an open face
and if mono twists when you are spoolin it
flip the spool over and feed it to the reel from the other end
each line seems to have its own advantages ....
